An exhibition under the great nave of the Grand Palais will always be a challenge! This is not our first intervention, but this project introduces more excess: a unique heritage, with sixteen relief-maps which replicate on the scale sixteen strong points at the borders of France. The largest exceed 1614,6 Sq. Ft., and are stored in spare parts. The fear that the space may be difficult to fill is quickly swept away. The key to our scenography is due to the presence of gigantic mirrors that deliver the landscapes vertically: an original vision of the territories that are not visible to the human eye. The basic structure of the exhibition, with its footbridges to move around at a height around the artworks, has been borrowed from the stage equipment of the major live gigs. With only five days for set-up, we must consider the construction site as a massive show: one hundred people are working day and night, in an acrobatic ballet of Lorries delivering the sceneries and works which are so valuable, nobody can insure them. They are beautiful, indeed, but the public could not assess them without the talent of the conservators, curators, stage managers, assembly teams that have trained for months to assemble, in record time, their complex puzzle. A successful exhibition is a team effort, and it seems like it hardly has the time to win the battle, when it has to disassemble again. But ephemeral art is an addictive stimulant, and we must hit even harder to make an impact!
